On a wing and a prayer

"Loving God,

it is with great excitement

and some trepidation

that we send off our friends

to do your work in Uganda....

Be present with them

in the joys and doubts they encounter.

Give them confidence

as they work in your name,

give them wisdom

as they represent our church,

and sustain them in all the work they do..."

-prayers led by the clerk of session Pat Gushue on Sunday January13

The elders, along with Monica Provan (who represented our TPC Uganda Committee) surrounded Anne, Steve and I with prayer for us at the end of Sunday's service. What a blessing to be sent off with such care and encouragement.

But the support didn't stop there! All three of us have been inundated with well wishes from friends and family. The phone has been ringing off the hook, visitors have been stopping by and emails have been arriving hourly.
Which is a good thing, because as our departure time draws near, we are very excited and nervous. Twenty-one days is a long time to be away from home and Masooli is so very far away. So we rest in God's call that is taking us to meet our new friends and in the prayers that surround us even while we are miles apart.

We will do our best to share our journey with you while we are away. As often as we can get to the internet (which may only be every few days, or less) we will add photos and stories about all that we encounter.

We're off to the airport with the words from Sunday's commissioning service:

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city build on a hill cannot be hidden…in the same way let your light shining before others, that they may see your good works and give glory to your God in heaven”. (Matt 5:14,16)
