Out and about in London

We got off the plane around 8:15am a little bleary eyed...

But then we got to customs. A delightful gentleman who received all three of us at the same time (as a 'family'!) and asked if we were going to do volunteer work. When we explained where we were headed, he offered words of encouragement and commended us for working to make the world a better place. What a funny place to find support!

Harrod's was our first stop (yes, Sandy, we took Steve shopping!). Sadly, i had a whopping headache but we still enjoyed the 'luxury' washrooms with their rose handcream and lovely decor.

A hot cup of tea at a bakery was just what we needed--along with the best sweet bun i have ever eaten in my life--then it was off to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Isn't it great that the museums in the \uk have free admission? Wish the ROM was like that!

Being a church trip and all, we spent lots of time admiring atined glass and silver church ware, although we did wander through the fashion exhibit as well (yes, Sandy, Steve went there, too!)

A quick bite in the cafeteria gave Anne a chance to admire the white fairy globe lights before taking the tube to Westminster Abby. Sadly, it was closed but at 10 pounds per person we weren't sure we would have gone in, anyway. We had a stewardship discussion outside instead...

After walking to Westminster Cathedral and catching the last bit of the children's choir rehearsal, we walked around the front of Buckingham palance and then returned to the airport via the underground. Steve has spent alot of time admiring the London transit system!

Now we have time to look around the airport prayer centre/chapel while we wait to meet up with Karin, who is meeting us here after flying in from Frankfurt...

Glad you got to London safely and had some time to look around. I think I might find more interest in the transit system than fashion too, Steve. Hope you are feeling rested and I look forward to reading more when you arrive in Uganda (which I suppose is in a couple hours!)
